Would Amy Coney Barrett be a fair judge on the unelected Supreme Court of the United States?

New information came out in the last few days about Trump’s SCOTUS nominee, Amy Coney Barrett. The school where she served as trustee deliberately rejected students who were from gay parents. Really? The school rejected the children? Yes, they did. Here is an article that explains it all:

According to the Associated Press article, “Barrett was trustee at private school with anti-gay policies,”

“Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett served for nearly three years on the board of private Christian schools that effectively barred admission to children of same-sex parents and made it plain that openly gay and lesbian teachers weren’t welcome in the classroom.

The policies that discriminated against LGBTQ people and their children were in place for years at Trinity Schools Inc., both before Barrett joined the board in 2015 and while she served.”

If you have a case that goes before the Supreme Court, you would hope that the person who would be hearing your case is unbiased. Amy Coney Barrett seems to fail this basic test for a judge, let alone a judge who would be on the Supreme Court of the United States for life. Amy Coney Barrett’s judgments would potentially affect the US Supreme Court and Americans for possibly three to four or more decades.

The above-referenced AP article includes an interview with Professor Suzanne B. Goldberg of Columbia Law School:

Suzanne B. Goldberg, a professor at Columbia Law School, said private schools have wide legal latitude to set admissions criteria. And, she said, Trinity probably isn’t covered by recent Supreme Court rulings outlawing employment discrimination against LGBTQ people because of its affiliation with a religious community. Cases addressing those questions are likely to come before the high court soon, she said.

“When any member of the judiciary affiliates themselves with an institution that is committed to discrimination on any ground, it is important to look more closely at how that affects the individual’s ability to give all cases a fair hearing,” Goldberg said.

Therefore, the fact that Senator Mitch McConnell is plowing through the Barrett nomination less than 13 days before our November 3, 2020 election is wrong and shows the lack of integrity of McConnell, Graham, Tillis and all the GOP Senators who support this travesty.

The American people need to have time to properly vet a Supreme Court nominee. Amy Coney Barrett tried to appear as if she was just like RBG in how she responded to the Senator’s questions. However, Barrett was no RBG. Barrett failed to answer basic questions about voting rights, women’s rights, and the science of climate change. Barrett invoked RBG and then proceeded to fail to be as transparent as RBG was on basic rights.

The Hypocrisy of Senate Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Judiciary Chair, Lindsey Graham:

What McConnell, Graham and Tillis said about Supreme Court Nominee in 2016 from The Hill

Lindsey Graham in 2016 on the Senate Judiciary Committee said (see above video for proof):

“This will stand the test of time. This is the last year of a lame duck president and if Ted Cruz or Donald Trump get to be president, they’ve all asked us not to confirm or take up a selection by President Obama. So, if a vacancy occurs in their last year of their first term, guess what, you will use their words against them. I want you to use my words against me. If there’s a republican president in 2016 and a vacancy occurs in the last year of the first term, you can say Lindsey Graham said, “Let’s let the next president, whoever it might be, make that nomination, and you can use my words against me and you’d be absolutely right.” We’re setting a precedent here today–Republicans are–that in the last year, at least of a lame duck eight-year term, I would say it’s going to be a four-year term, that you’re not going to fill the vacancy of the supreme court based on what we’re doing here today.”

Then in 2018 Lindsey Graham said while being interviewed on TV: (see above video for proof):

“If, an opening comes in the last year of President Trump’s term and the primary process has started, we’ll wait til the next election. Hold the tape.” Lindsey Graham said this when he said he would not nominate a Supreme Court Justice in the last year of the first term of Donald Trump’s administration if there was a vacancy on the Supreme Court.

Mitch McConnell failed to even allow President Barack Obama’s judicial nominee, Merrick Garland, to have a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee within 8 months before the November 2016 presidential election, claiming the people should decide the president who would decide the next Supreme Court nominee.

Then, as soon as Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg died, McConnell was already deciding how to put someone on the Supreme Court less than 2 months before the Nov 3, 2020 election. Beloved Notorious RBG was not even buried and Trump held his Rose Garden Barrett COVD-19 Super Spreader event where dozens of attendees became ill with COVID-19 because invitees failed to wear masks or social distance.

Now, with additional information surfacing about Amy Coney Barrett that confirms doubts about her ability to be an unbiased judge, it’s clear that this confirmation process now needs to be halted until after the next president is installed on January 20, 2021.

As Senators Graham, McConnell and Tillis said in 2016: The people should have a voice and the next president of the US should be the one to nominate a Supreme Court justice in an election year.

Let’s remember that Senators Graham, McConnell and Tillis are all on the ballot for 2020. Now would be a good time to vote them all out.

Do you want hypocrites in the Senate who go back on their word? It’s time to have Senators who will work for their constituents and the American people:

Please Vote and:

VOTE FOR: Amy McGrath for Senator in Kentucky, and vote out Senator Mitch McConnell

VOTE FOR: Jaime Harrison for Senator of South Carolina, and thereby vote out Lindsey Graham

VOTE FOR: Cal Cunningham for Senator of North Carolina, and thereby vote out Thom Tillis
